![]() This setup works great for wifi, but I can't seem to get a wired connection on any of my other devices. In another room, I had a AE connected to the wall for wifi.Īfter reading this post, I disconnected the modem and set the AE as discussed, with the NBN box connected directly to my switch. I had the ISP's box connected to the NBN box, and then this was connected to the switch. I have a network switch above my NBN box. I have a question about this I'm hoping someone can help me with. Is this where you plug the gigaset handset? No you plug it in to your router. Yes, the Gigaset box is the voip box and connects via ethernet to the Airport Extreme.Īlso I thought you could plug a phone into the UNI-V port on the NBN device Only if you have a UNI-V voice service (costs extra, but not many RSPs seem to be offering UNI-V voice services). Is this where you plug the gigaset handset? Do I plug the gigiaset device into the AE? I ask that because the AE is not VOIP enabled and it does not have a RJ12 port It just has WAN and 3 ethernet ports. Also I thought you could plug a phone into the UNI-V port on the NBN device. Each of the ports on the NBN NTD are used to provide a separate broadband service, they don't work as a network switch:-) Thanks, That sort of make sense but I am trying to visualise my set up and I am wondering then what cable comes out of the gigaset device and where does it plug in then?ĭo I plug the gigiaset device into the AE? As someone else mentioned, make sure you get the latest model (5th generation) – $199. If you want advanced features, it's not for you but if you just want a no fuss set-and-forget device that you never have to worry about its perfect. It is an astoundingly good device for the money – stable, fast and consistent performance. Yep, we use the AirPort Extreme too on a number of NBN (both pppoe and ipoe services depending on the rsp) and other non-nbn fibre connections. Are there any current NBN uses out there who use an Apple Airport Extreme on their network as I have some questions to clear my befuddled mind. I do not want to run it through a BOB modem or anything and want to connect it directly to the NBN router.Īny comments are greatly appreciated, in particular suggestions of a phone model that people are using which works well. Is there a particular handset with works with the AE or an adapter which gives VOIP out of the AE? I really want to try and make everything work from the AE because it has such good results from what I have seen with the DL speeds, and also I have it working well with port forwarding etc. Photo viewer with delete function for mac. But I am wondering about what to do with the iiNet Netphone service with the AE? As the AE is not a VOIP router what can I do? I have an AirPort Extreme current model and firmware and want to use it as the router to connect to the NBN which I believe is no problem. Hi, I am about to hook up to NBN on iiNet and currently have adsl with them. They also refunded the cost of the BoB Lite, even sending a box to send it back in as we'd thrown out ours. Its stupid that is necessary to get interruption free music with wireless products, but its a solution that worked. As a side note, I connected the AirportExpress via ethernet cable to the AirportExtreme router and all drop outs stopped. Once I set this up, all latency issues disappeared. Just change the PPoE connection to DHCP, as the NBN box is a router itself. I had trouble working out how to set it up, though once I worked it out it seemed ridiculous I had issues. Yes, and it works much better than the crappy BoB Lite box, specifically the wireless network performance. The AirPort Time Capsule is Apple’s flagship wireless router, complete with built-in hard disk drives, enabling Time Machine support right out of the box.
